Mariachi Tesoro de Tucsonis a mariachi group consisting of 13 children, 9 through 15. We are proud to have such a talented musician for our Musical Director, Mr. Jaime Valenzuela. Mr. Jaime Valenzuela is a professional mariachi and a music educator in a local school district. He has known most of the Tesoro musicians since they were in kindergarten and has specially selected each of them to participate in this exceptional musical and educational experience. Mariachi Tesoro de Tucsonis proud to carry on this rich cultural and historical heritage of mariachi music born in Mexico and thesouthwest region of the United States. Tucson, Arizona, is now the heart and soul of mariachi music in all the United States.
Mariachi Tesoro de Tucsonthanks our Director, Jaime Valenzuela, for his tireless efforts in teaching the musicians and for the strong relationships he builds with Tesoro families. Tesoro performed in the2007 San Antonio competitionandwon the first prize for the elementary & middle school competition judged by the most talented musicians from the best mariachi in the world, El Mariachi Vargas de Teclitlan.
