Mr. Jaime Valenzuela is a professional mariachi and has been a teacher and mentor to Tesoro musicians since most were in kindergarten. He has a knack for bringing together talented young musicians. His first youth mariachi group was Mariachi Milagro Juvenil, later Mariachi Milagro, also a wonderful group of talented musicians from Tucson. We are proud to have one of their members, Cheally, as Mariachi Tesoro's violin instructor.
Jaime is multi-talented. He plays several instruments, arranges the music for Mariachi Tesoro, composed the Tesoro theme song with the help of Tesoro musicians David and Conrad. The musicians respect and love Jaime and regard him as family.
The family atmosphere is, in large part, due to Jaime's approach to teaching. He does not structure the practices like school classroom instruction. He allows for the musicians' talents to emerge from practice, for collaboration and mentoring to carry the day, and provides one-on-one attention as musicians need it.
Mr. Valenzuela's expertise serves many young mariachis well as he teaches at the annual Tucson International Mariachi Conference and at an elementary school in Tucson, Arizona.
We thank Jaime Valenzuela for his hard work and devotion to Tesoro's musicians and families!
