Mariachi Tesoro de Tucson participated in two categories of the competition at San Antonio in 2007 hosted by Mariachi Vargas. All Tesoro musicians attended 2 days of workshops with maestros from El Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, competed with other youth mariachi groups, met mariachis of all ages and experience, watched the masters perform, and learned a great deal.
Vocalist FInalists - Two of our musicians - Fernando (Trompeta y Guitarra) and Chung (Vihuela) were finalists in the Vocal Competition for Elementary/Middle School. They were highly competitive, performed con gusto and sang con ganas. We are very proud! Videos
Marichi Tesoro musicians' instruments now proudly bear the autographs of Pepe Sr., Pepe Jr., Stevie, and other musicians in Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán.
