Mariachi Tesoro de Tucson won 2nd place in this year's Nuestras Raíces Competition of youth mariachi groups. The Pima Public Library hosts this annual competition, which in its second year took place at the Tucson Festival of Books at the University of Arizona. The competition was well attended. The group is honored to have been in the running with the well respected and talented group, Mariachi Aztlán of Pueblos High School, directed by John Contreras, which took 1st place this year!
Congratulations to our friends in Mariachi Aztlán!!
Congratulations also to Mariachi Nueva Melodia who took 3rd place!
We look forward to next year and thank our friends, family, Director Jaime Valenzuela and Instructors Chelye Smith and Rudy Valenzuela for helping to prepare us for this event. We had a lot of fun.
Thank you for visiting! Come back soon.
